Who we are
Double Loop Studio ("we", "us") is an independent studio that makes loop-based games. We are responsible for the information described in this policy.
For any privacy question or request, email [email protected]. A real person on our team reads that inbox.
Very little. No accounts on our site, no tracking cookies, and only what you choose to send us.
What we collect
- When you visit this website: our hosting and security provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies on this site.
- When you email us: your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. This includes playtest sign-ups, press requests and feedback.
- When you join a playtest: the feedback you give us. If a playtest build records gameplay data, such as where you got stuck, we'll tell you before you start, and it isn't linked to your name.
- In our games: this depends on the game. See the next lap.
We never ask for things like your home address, ID documents or payment card details. Purchases are handled by the store you buy from.
Each game collects something slightly different. Here's the honest list.
Game by game
Online leaderboards use your Steam display name and your lap times, which other players can see. Steam handles your account, and we don't receive your email or payment details. Crash reports, if you choose to send them, include technical details about your PC and the game version.
Tandem is played on one device with no online features, so the game itself sends us nothing. Your saves stay on your computer. The store you buy it from may collect information under its own policy.
Echo Kitchen is free to play with optional cosmetic purchases. The App Store or Google Play processes purchases, and we only learn which item was bought so we can unlock it. If you turn on cloud saves, your progress is stored through your platform's game service. The game may also send anonymous crash and performance reports, plus a device identifier used to restore purchases.
To run the games, answer you, and make the next build better. That's it.
How we use it
- To run features you use, such as leaderboards, cloud saves and unlocking purchases.
- To reply to your emails and send playtest invites or studio news you asked for. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, or you can just reply "stop".
- To find and fix bugs, crashes and balance problems.
- To keep the website and games secure and to stop abuse, such as cheating on leaderboards.
We don't build advertising profiles, and we don't use your information for anything unrelated to our games and studio.
Kids are welcome to play, but we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Kids
Our games are made for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the age set by the law where they live.
Kids shouldn't email us or sign up for playtests without a parent or guardian. If you think a child has sent us personal information, contact [email protected] and we'll delete it.
Only as long as we need it, then it's gone.
How long we keep it
- Emails and feedback: for as long as the conversation is useful, then deleted. If you ask, we'll delete them sooner.
- Newsletter and playtest list: until you unsubscribe.
- Leaderboard entries: while the leaderboard runs, or until you ask us to remove yours.
- Crash reports and server logs: only as long as needed to fix problems and keep things secure, usually a few months.
Ask to see it, fix it or delete it. We'll do it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you,
- correct anything that's wrong,
- ask us to delete it,
- object to or limit how we use it, and
- complain to your local data protection authority.
Email [email protected] with your request. We may ask a question or two to confirm it's really you, and we aim to reply within 30 days. For information held by Steam, Apple or Google, you can also use their own privacy tools.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when our games or the way we handle information change, for example when we release a new game or add an online feature. The "Last updated" date at the top always shows the latest version.
If a change is significant, we'll also mention it on this website or in the affected game.
